Muslim scholars calculated the angle of the ecliptic ; measured the size of the Earth; calculated the precession of the equinoxes; explained, in the field of optics and physicssuch phenomena as refraction of light, gravity, capillary attraction, and twilight; and developed observatories for the empirical study of heavenly bodies.
It is necessary that in the Islamic system that we should consider these dear children as our own children, and put aside all other considerations, and rise above all such things and realize our duty and our mission.
